Luca Louis Hain was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. In 2016 he moved to Berlin for a three-year professional training as a media designer image and sound in a specialised rental company. After his graduation, he worked as a director of photography on commercials for TV, Web, and other formats until he decided to study cinematography at the renowned Hamburg Media School for his Master of Arts.​

During these two years, he was responsible as a cinematographer for the short films Chokehold, Please Don't Tap on the Glass, and Inkubus, all of which were successfully screened at film festivals both nationally and internationally.​
